I've got a Fulmer Bobber that I paid about $150.00 for, in 3/4. It's a cool helmet. Evel Kneivel version.

I've yet to ride the Triumph wearing it.

Also have an HCI-100, probably the smallest DOT helmet made, and it ran somewhere around $40.00. Fits in the saddlebag.

Reviews on the HCI-100 are pretty good, even with people who had to test them live. Strap leaves a little to be desired, but ok, I guess.

Sadly I'm replacing my (14 yr. old) Shoei RJ-Air open face helmet and really wanted the Arai XC w/ dark face shield. But $500?! ...so i settled for an LS2 Track and added a smoke shield, $129. It's DOT/ECE certified with very good reviews. Anyone familiar with this helmet?

I dunno if it's aerodynamic, but it's my fav helmet to date and the first one where i have never thought about getting one i might like better. Had it about 2-3 years now too. If only it had little miniature machine gun turrets on the sides that would shoot down incoming bees it would be perfect. It also has a nice click type chin strap connector thats a 1 second operation. All my other helmets i had to buy aftermarket ones and they weren't near as good.

Here's my review of the "LS2 Track" helmet though limited cuz I rode 10 miles on the freeway. Overall great bang for the buck; aerodynamic @ 80 mph, comfortable, lightweight, DOT approved, quick lease chinstrap, removable/washable padding, etc. Only negative is wind noise but earplugs are a quick fix!

Nice to have around the stable imo, 4 out of 5 Thumbs

UPDATE: I'm returning this helmet. After a long ride in the desert heat, the ventilation isn't good. So my search continues for a 3/4 open face.

...ended up with the Arai XC. The ventilation design is perfect for desert riding.

Arai XC has a total of 9 vents (two in the face shield), most of them adjustable and the helmet feels very comfortable. I'll try it in the desert soon :)

Also the face shield locks in down position! you have to pull it a certain way to raise...extra protection.

I'm legal (T-decal) and did a short ride in 109 F. (43 C). The Arai is very comfortable w/ many vents, no hot spots. Your head and helmet feel as one, great jawbone protection and peripheral vision too. I didn't notice buffeting (looking forward or sideways) with a fly screen at 70 mph.

I qoute "As far as comparing full face with open face in an accident if we all worried about those things we shouldnt be riding at all"
Well I only have sight in one eye and cant afford to get anything in my eye because then I can not see a thing therefor I wear a full face helmet ,I lost the sight in my left eye in a accident if i had a open face on I would not have been around to tell you this. Believe me if you have a accident and have half your face wiped out you would not be saying that if you are worried about facial injuries you should not be riding. I had broken legs etc but believe me for pain nothing comes close to facial injuries nothing wrong or soft trying to avoid facial injuries .

Hi Ian,

For short distant rides, an open face helmet is much comfortable. Wearing a motorcycle glass can help you here. I used to worn one while using open face helmet to protects by eyes.

Myself and my friends used to buy motorcycle glasses from Link

Hi Ian
In cold weather rides I worn my 3/4 helmet on backwards to keep my face warm. Just cut two holes to see out of back helmet. Much comfortable now. I lost my motorcycle glasses and the link to website do not working.

Open face with shield is all I've worn since I had my first bike in 1971. Full face is too restrictive to me. I did pay the price though when I went down a few years ago. Road rash to the chin. Ouch.
